Center for Educational Therapy provides fundamental social skills for children and adolescents. Their lead educational therapist, Sandy Ansari, leads youth social therapy Groups to provide an opportunity for children to experience and learn about the common roles that they encounter on a daily basis. These Group sessions teach crucial social and cooperative skills that are necessary for them to thrive in many social settings. Sandy Ansari uses a method called PLAYstorming. Sandy uses PLAYstorming to help facilitate social skills; P: Process L: Learning A: Authored by Y: Youth. The method integrates the neuroscience of play along with and groups dynamics.

Group relations for children will safeguard them from issues such a bullying, sibling rivalry, family or academic pressures. During their sessions, children and teens also enhance their cognitive and social-emotional functioning in areas such as of language, self-regulation, motivation, and critical thinking.

Throughout each child’s therapy at the center, parent involvement is vital to the growth of each child. Parent and facilitator have an opportunity to later reflect on what play behaviors are emerging from their child’s socialization in group which becomes the focus for increasing the parent-child relationship and reflective capacity of the child. The observations are useful to help parents learn ways to prepare their child for each coming stage of their development and equip them with social solving problem skills .

Generalizing: Participants begin to look at what they learned could apply to their own real-life situations. This stage is critical in answering the question children often have on their minds, “Why is this important to me?” or “How will I be able to make use of learning?”
Applying: Participants identify specifically how they will apply what they experienced and learning needs to their real-life experience.
